I am a Japanese tutor and private teacher based in Bangkok, supporting a wide range of learners—from complete beginners to heritage learners and Japanese children following the Japanese curriculum. I am relatively new to Bangkok and enjoy meeting people from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
My teaching experience includes approximately two years of instructing Japanese for beginners, around two years working with heritage learners, roughly four years as a private tutor supporting students in the Japanese educational curriculum, and about ten years of experience mentoring writing and providing language support for high school, university, and adult learners.
Having personally learned multiple languages—including English, Lao, and Chinese, and currently studying Thai—I understand both the practical and emotional aspects of language learning. This experience strongly shapes my teaching style and helps me support learners from diverse backgrounds.
I generally prefer a conversational and practical approach that prioritizes real communication and natural language use. Rather than focusing exclusively on memorization or test-oriented study, I aim to help students develop confidence and use Japanese meaningfully in everyday life. Lessons may include casual conversation, listening practice, pronunciation support, cultural explanations, and situation-based communication, depending on the learner's goals.
At the same time, I am fully comfortable working through textbooks and following a more formal or structured learning style when needed. I adapt lessons to each learner's needs—whether the goal is conversation, long-term language development, school support, literacy, or systematic grammar study.
In addition to tutoring, I work professionally in the humanities as an editor, translator, and writer. Drawing on this experience, I have mentored writing for approximately ten years, supporting learners from high school through adulthood. My writing support may include reading comprehension, essay writing, humanities-oriented and academic writing, revision strategies, argument development, and improving clarity and expression.
For Japanese children and families, I provide educational support as a private tutor, assisting with school subjects and study habits based on the Japanese curriculum. I can support a broad range of subjects and learning needs, with the exception of highly specialized university-preparatory mathematics and advanced STEM subjects at the most competitive entrance-exam level.
I am open to working with learners of various ages and backgrounds and strive to provide lessons that are flexible, communicative, and tailored to the individual.
Whether you are starting from zero, reconnecting with your Japanese heritage, improving daily communication, seeking academic support, or developing writing and communication skills, I aim to create lessons that are engaging, practical, and suited to your goals.
Outside of teaching and writing, I enjoy coffee, books, museums, and long walks around the city. As someone still discovering Bangkok myself, I enjoy learning through conversation and shared curiosity. Read less
