Conservatoire trained bassist offering lessons in Guitar, Bass, Ukulele and Music Theory
I am an electric bass and double bass player, singer, songwriter, and educator who started on the Hong Kong music scene at the age of 15, with encouragement from my mentor, the legendary American bassist Flynn Adams. While living in Kunming from age 16 to 18, I formed the six-piece Cuban folk and salsa group, Guarapo. During my time in China, I was also invited to perform at the 2014 Shanghai JZ Festival with pop singer Huang Xibei. In 2021, I completed my degree in jazz performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where I was trained by Brazilian jazz bassist Mario Caribé, and discovered a passion for Brazilian music, as well as Scottish folk music and songwriting. I am currently based in Hong Kong and work as a freelance bass player and music educator. I have been teaching for over 10 years in a range of settings, including one-on-one tutoring for children and adults, small music groups, primary school classrooms, ECA band coaching, and kids' theatre groups. I aim to help develop your connection with your instrument and your creativity in ways that matter to you, whatever your age, experience, goals, or interests. Lessons are highly personalized and can cover a wide range of musical skills, including instrumental technique (guitar, ukulele, electric bass, acoustic bass), improvisation, music theory, singing, songwriting and composition, ABRSM and exam coaching, introduction to piano and percussion, rehearsal and performance skills, and band coaching.
