Questions for You

Q: What teaching methods do you use to help students learn Math concepts and solve problems?

I believe that every student should be matched with a unique and different learning ability. I aim to help them uncover it so that their academic potential can be maximized. I like to encourage my students to think logically and systematically as that's the key to developing their problem-solving skills. During each tutorial, the learning materials are carefully structured so that my students can learn at their optimal pace. Moreover, I will make sure students fully understand all the theorems and logics, but not just to get the answers right! This is crucial to let the students enjoy Math study. For those with better abilities, pre-study (ahead of the school's pace of teaching) of units may be introduced. Clear working steps, which are very important in taking IGCSE, GCSE, or IB exams, will also be carefully guided. Additional notes and exercises will be provided to students depending on their abilities and study progress. After each lesson, students will be given homework for practice and it needs to be handed in on the next lesson. Students will also learn how to make and organize their own study notes for future revision to make their study and revision most efficient. For those students who are going to take IGCSE or GCSE, past exam papers or sample papers will be provided for further practice. Ongoing progress reports will also be provided to parents to keep track of the student's learning progress.

Q: Do you have experience with online teaching platforms or virtual tutoring, and what is your preferred method of communication with students?

Yes, I have experience with online teaching platforms or virtual tutoring, and it's my preferred method of communication with students of grade 10 or above. For students of grade 9 or below, face-to-face lessons are more suitable.

Q: What Math topics or concepts are you particularly skilled in teaching, and how do you keep up to date with changes in the curriculum?

All Math topics or concepts for grade 7-12 Math can be taught very well.

Q: How do you communicate with parents about their child's progress and any challenges they may be facing in learning Math?

Whatsapp communication with parents regularly is preferred, in order to keep them up to date with the child's learning progress. Ongoing progress reports will also be provided to parents to keep track of the student's learning progress.

Q: Do you provide any additional resources or materials to supplement your lessons, such as practice exercises or online tutorials?

Yes, my tutoring is mainly supported by additional resources I provide, such as worksheets and past papers, to help students practice and strengthen their understanding.

Q: What is your approach to homework assignments, and how do you ensure students understand the concepts covered in class?

Students are usually given homework after each lesson, if their parents consider it appropriate. Any mistakes or unclear concepts are reviewed in the next lesson to ensure full understanding.

Q: What steps do you take to ensure that your teaching approach is compatible with the student's learning style?

I have over 20 years of tutoring experience. Through careful observation and review of students’ work, I ensure that my teaching approach and pace align with each student’s learning style and progress. I make ongoing adjustments to my teaching methods when necessary.

Q: Do you have experience working with students with learning disabilities or special needs, and how do you adapt your teaching methods to accommodate their needs?
