To build intuition, I start with simple examples, drawings and other visualizations. Then I connect that intuition to the formal expressions by demonstrating how the examples relate to the formulas and equations. From there, I give the student the opportunity to practice to internalize the conepts.
I've tutored math with setups as simple as a Teams call with the student writing on their iPad. All I need is a platform to call on and something digital for the student to write on.
I have no preference and I am comfortable with teaching any kind of high school math. Math stays the same, so the only thing curricula change are which selection of concepts we focus on.
Through any channel of communication that the parents prefer.
As a tutor, I try to work with the materials provided by the teachers to supplement it. If necessary, I am able to create custom practice exercises.
I encourage the student to work out assignments in their own time, but mistakes are not punished. Instead, I go over the student's answers with them, identify problematic areas, and work on improving them.
I encourage the student to think out loud and observe how the student understands the problem. Based on the thought process, I introduce ways to augment it and teach the student the right way to think about the problem.
I have no such specific experience, but I believe it is a teacher's responsibility to patient and accomodating to the student's needs.
