I'm an astrophysicist by vocation, but currently, I work as a full-time software architect and a part-time STEM tutor. I've been tutoring students for the past 8 years, from grade 1 all the way up to 3rd-year uni students.

I try to have a comfortable balance between diving deep into a subject's theory and giving my students enough time to engage in practical applications of the material.

Everyone is different, and I always take this as an opportunity to structure the lesson around what works best for my students.

I try my best to have an assessment lesson to first gauge where a student is in terms of proficiency with the subject and see how they respond to different teaching styles.

Once I have a better idea about how much a student knows and how they like to learn, I then start to build out a schedule with them. This helps keep students grounded and consistently engaging with the work. I also assess how much additional engagement is needed such as homework assignments, reminder messages, additional material, etc. Read less
