Questions for You

Q: What age range of students do you usually work with?

I'm experienced in teaching students across a full range of ages.

Q: How do you approach lesson planning and preparation?

Your goals as a student shape every session we have together. From the beginning, I form a plan based on your target, and on the areas for improvement where my help can be most effective. However, I'm responsive. As I get to know more about you through our teaching, I can focus ever more precisely on your needs through teaching tailored to your learning style.

Q: How do you measure progress and assess learning outcomes for your students?

If we're working towards an exam, I'll keep that exams grading system at the centre of all feedback I give to you. If we're looking at academic writing skills, I bring in my years working as a professor in academia to make clear how your professors respond to your work.

Q: Do you provide regular homework and assignments, and how do you review and provide feedback on student work?

I do! Only a limited amount of learning can be done in the classroom, so I provide a range of assignments for my students to work on outside class. I look to make feedback active, working it into class activities. An important part of learning is self-reflection.

Q: What technology or resources do you use to enhance your lessons, particularly for online sessions?

As a student, I want you to get the most out of every session with me. To teach writing, simple tools like shared Google documents are often the most effective way to work together. But sometimes a game helps an idea to stick, so they're often part of my lessons.

Q: Do you provide any additional support outside of scheduled lesson times, such as answering questions via email or phone?

Sure! I'm always happy to answer questions, be it from prospective students or current ones.

Q: Do you have any specific strategies for motivating students who may be struggling or disengaged with the subject material?

There's always another way to approach a topic. If one way doesn't suit a students' learning style, I'm always happy to find another.

Q: Do you have experience working with students with learning differences or special needs?

Yes, I've worked with students with a range of learning differences. Please let me know about any adaptations you require, and I'm happy to accommodate them.
