Questions for You

Q: What areas of Chemistry do you specialize in, and what level of Chemistry do you usually teach?

I specialize in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry. I usually teach at the college level, particularly undergraduate students in health-related programs.

Q: What types of resources or technology do you use to support your Chemistry lessons?

To support tutoring sessions, I use notes, practice problems, visual aids, videos, online whiteboards, and interactive simulations. I also provide review materials and quizzes to help students track their progress and strengthen their understanding.

Q: How do you approach teaching Chemistry concepts to students who may struggle with Chemistry?

As a tutor, I approach students who struggle with chemistry by identifying the specific topics they find difficult and explaining them in a personalized, step-by-step manner. I focus on building their confidence through guided practice, repetition, and relatable examples that make concepts easier to understand. I also encourage students to ask questions freely and learn at their own pace.

Q: Do you have experience with laboratory experiments, and how do you incorporate these into your Chemistry lessons?

Yes. I have experience handling aboratory experiments, especially in General Chemistry and Biochemistry settings. I incorporate lab work into lessons by connecting it directly to the theory discussed in class. Before the experiment, I explain the concepts, procedures, and expected outcomes so students understand the “why” behind each step. During the lab, I guide them in proper technique, observation, and data collection. Afterward, I reinforce learning through discussion, analysis of results, and linking findings back to real chemical principles.

Q: What is your approach to teaching organic chemistry, and how do you make the subject engaging and accessible for students?

My approach to teaching organic chemistry is to focus on patterns rather than memorization. I help students understand core principles like functional groups, reaction mechanisms, and electron movement so they can predict outcomes instead of relying on rote learning. To make it engaging and accessible, I use stepwise mechanism breakdowns, visual tools like reaction maps and molecular models, and real-life applications such as drugs, food chemistry, and everyday materials. I also incorporate practice problems gradually, from simple to complex, so students build confidence as they progress.

Q: How do you help students prepare for chemistry competitions, college applications, or other academic opportunities in chemistry?

I help students prepare by first identifying their target, whether it’s competitions, exams, or applications, and then building a focused review plan around core chemistry concepts and problem-solving skills. For competitions, I emphasize higher-order thinking, speed in solving problems, and exposure to advanced or unfamiliar question types. For college applications or academic advancement, I strengthen their fundamentals while also helping them highlight lab experience, research exposure, and chemistry-related achievements. I also provide practice sets, mock exams, and guided discussions of difficult problems, while coaching them on study strategies, time management, and how to approach analytical questions confidently.
