I have been involved in mathematics education for 40 years: 15 years as high school mathematics teacher and 25 years as university lecturer in mathematics education. I am based in Stellenbosch. I am passionate about mathematics and its teaching, and love to share this with students. My teaching approach is geared towards enabling students to understand and enjoy mathematics, to be problem solvers, rather than on rote learning and following procedures devoid of meaning.

After her undergraduate experience, she spent three years conducting research at Harvard Medical School on Alzheimer’s disease. Next she completed her Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she researched fMRI in neurodevelopmental disorder patients. Naomi is motivated to meet students where they are at and prepare lesson plans according to their learning styles. She is passionate about helping students find their own voice through writing and help students study more efficiently. Additionally, she likes to provide helpful tips for successful test taking and staying organized. She offers online and in person sessions.
