My name is Tanya. I am an English, French, Russian, Economics and Business tutor. I have degrees in Philology, Economics and a TESOL certificate. I have been teaching for more than 15 years. I have a PhD degree and worked at a university where I taught Economics, Management, Marketing, History of Economic Thought. I also taught languages to groups in IT companies. Now I am working for Japanese and Chinese teaching companies. Teaching is fun for me and I try to create the same atmosphere for my students during a lesson. I always look for the best way to help my students in any aspect.

I am a holder of a BCom Degree in Economics and Business Management (Nelson Mandela University, South Africa), BCom Honours Degree in Economics (Nelson Mandela University) and MCom in Economics (Nelson Mandela University). I am currently registered for a PhD in Economics at Nelson Mandela University, where I am testing the Marshal Learner on bilateral trade balances of SACU member states with their trading partners. With a strong economics background from my honours and master’s degree, I have strong interests in any economics lecturing. I have three to five years’ experience in lecturing economics (both microeconomics and macroeconomics as well as economic History) and econometrics at Nelson Mandela University. I also have very limited experience in the industry as, l worked as a risk assessor in different companies such as CMM panel beaters, MIMSHEC International (part-time and volunteering).

I am a lecturer and tutor in Economics. I have attained an honours degree in Economics with my majours being Industrial Psychology an Public Administration. I am well versed in all aspects of Economics. I have attained working experience within the field of Economics. Thus, I am a well rounded and experienced tutor/lecturer. I have over 10 years of Economics teaching and research experience at universities and colleges. I have taught many undergraduate and postgraduate courses which include econometric, microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistics, quantitative methods, advanced econometric and software applications, advanced microeconomics, and research methodology in economics. I have a solid foundation in the following economics software programs which include STATA, Matlab, PC GIVE, SPSS, EVIEWS, FRONTIER 4.1, LIMDEP, LaTex, and Microsoft office suites. Besides, I have supervised 6 batch final year undergraduate students in writing their senior essay paper and more than 10 master students in their master thesis work. I have served as both internal and external examiner for master students thesis defense. I have also presented papers during local and international conferences and meetings.

I have a masters degree in economics and vast experience teaching at tertiary and matric level. I work as an economic and market research consultant, therefore, I have first-hand knowledge of the application of economic learnings in the real world. I have a vast knowledge of economic and quantitative skills.

I am a full-time PhD candidate in Economics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) with three years of experience as a Teaching Assistant and tutor at the university level, along with private tutoring experience for primary and secondary students. My professional background as a macroeconomist enables me to connect economic theories with real-world developments, helping students build strong analytical and problem-solving skills. I specialize in teaching IB, AP, A-Level (CIE & Edexcel), and DSE Economics, as well as Mathematics, including DSE M1 and M2. I am also a graduate of ESF West Island School, where I achieved a Level 7 in IB Economics Higher Level and a Grade 9 / A* in IGCSE Economics. I am an Economics and Business Economics student at the University of Amsterdam and an A honours student with a strong academic background in IB. I graduated from the IB programme in 2024 and teach IB Economics (HL/SL), IB Business Management (HL/SL), and IB ESS (HL/SL), achieving a 6 in Economics HL and 7s in both Business Management HL and ESS HL myself.
