Born and raised in Illinois, Tariq Shah writes fiction and poetry. He holds a BA in English from DePaul University in Chicago, and an MFA in Creative Writing from St. Joseph's College, where he now teaches undergraduate English. From 2007-2009 he served in the US Peace Corps, during which time he taught 8th and 9th grade English in Moatize, Mozambique, and speaks Portuguese proficiently. An active percussionist for over 15 years, he performs regularly, and has extensive music performance, composition and education experience.

Students and fellow scholars, I've been passionate about writing and English in general for quite some time, from poetry to essay's, I have a knack for all projects with words.
