I've been a classroom teacher for 25 years, and have designed highly successful courses in French, Spanish, and other languages; ESL; mathematics; teaching methodologies; and research methods (for university and graduate level students). I work regularly with non-professional academics and divergent learners, many of whom find academic writing intimidating. There are many ways to create quality research products, though, and I take the time to find what works for you and your needs. It can be a tricky skill to master early on and if not properly grasped at the high school level, it can become a burden at university. This is not a case of being able to write elegantly but rather to communicate a concept or argument effectively. It's never too early or too late to start honing your ability to write. You use it in several subjects at school, from languages to history and biology. University students undoubtedly require this skill whether they're in their first or final year. No matter the degree, lecturers will begin asking students to submit assignments and exam questions in written form. In some cases, final year exams comprise two or three long questions. Instead of dreading those essay assignments and questions, and missing out on easy marks, let's sharpen your writing skills and ace those essays! I am a Danish guy with a PhD in Philosophy from The University of Hong Kong and two years of postdoc research experience from Oxford University. Prior to coming to Hong Kong, I attained Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Denmark in Sociology and European Studies. After completing my PhD, I wrote and published a book with Springer Nature based on my research, which won the British Ecological Society's Book of the Year award for 2023 and received other positive reviews. Writing has always been my greatest academic strength and enjoyment, so I am now trying to help students with their writing.
