I am a published author, college writing instructor, and Professional Certified Coach (PCC). I have taught English and writing for over 20 years and provide coaching on academic planning and performance. I am located in New York City and tutor and coach online. My interests include Italian, Renaissance studies, British literature, composition, writing across the curriculum, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), essay writing and fiction writing.

I am a licensed professional teacher and a certified public accountant with eight years of private tutoring experience. I am also a Catholic writer and editor. Every time I teach, my goal is to help students achieve a perfect score on their exams. I push my tutees to reach their highest potential and never settle for mediocrity. I do not allow them to move on from a topic until further tests prove they have mastered it. As a result, 99% of my previous students were either first or second honors in school. The remaining 1% still achieved excellent grades or showed significant academic improvement under my guidance. I even had a Grade 6 Math student whose mark soared from 74 to 95. With your cooperation, I can bring about the same success for you. I adapt my teaching style to suit the personality of each student. While I am generally friendly and lively, I can also be strict when necessary. Unruly kids almost always exhibit more disciplined behaviour within three months. My previous students have developed a fondness for me and continue to stay in touch even as years pass.

Learning never stops... My experience as a classroom teacher, homeschool instructor and instructional designer has taught me the importance of learning requirements as: attention, retention, motivation and prior knowledge.

With a background in Primary Education, I am keen to teach a range of subjects. I have a particular passion for all things creative whether that be the arts, writing or any project that can become unique and personal to each individual. I am currently in the process of moving and so will currently only be able to work online. I am very flexible in my approach, unlike others, I am very willing to receive feedback and comments from students to allow me to adjust lessons to ensure that they benefit from them as much as possible. My approach is entirely about you and what you need and want to achieve. We are a team with a goal between us that we will work to surpass!

I've been a classroom teacher for 25 years, and have designed highly successful courses in French, Spanish, and other languages; ESL; mathematics; teaching methodologies; and research methods (for university and graduate level students). I work regularly with non-professional academics and divergent learners, many of whom find academic writing intimidating. There are many ways to create quality research products, though, and I take the time to find what works for you and your needs. My goal is to see my students empowered to produce quality research because they realize that, with the right tools and support, they can share something important with the world. I work primarily in southern Vermont, but I travel to southwestern New Hampshire and western Massachusetts, as well.
