I am an experienced Biology/Chemistry Tutor in Toronto. I earned my PhD in Biology (Molecular Virology) from the University of Turku in Finland. Since then, I have successfully completed postdoctoral research fellowships at the University of Helsinki, University of Montreal, the internationally recognized Goodman Cancer Research Centre at the McGill University, and most recently in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto. Throughout my academic career, I have had the privilege of tutoring, mentoring, and supervising high-school, undergraduate and graduate students, nurturing the next generation of scientific talent. Currently, I am a Biology/Chemistry Tutor at my own small company, Alexey Karetnikov Tutoring: Science for Success. Tutoring of high-school students is performed in accordance with the Ontario Curriculum, including standard university preparation program, as well as AP and IB programs. To constantly improve my knowledge of biology and chemistry, I regularly read Nature, Science, Chemistry World and other scientific journals. To keep up-to-date with recent developments in teaching resources and strategies, I regularly read Journal of Biological Education, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Education, Journal of Chemical Education, Education in Chemistry, Chemistry Education Research and Practice, Science in School, and other specialized journals for teachers and educators. اقرأ أقل

I am using innovative teaching techniques, which include multimedia (PowerPoint presentations and videos) and molecular/anatomical models. The models I use include physical (assembled from plastic components, or 3D-printed), as well as computer-generated virtual models of biological and chemical molecules and structures.
