أسئلة لك

Q: What level of Chinese do you typically teach, such as basic Chinese or advanced Chinese?

I teach both basic Cantonese and advanced Cantonese for both kids and adults

Q: What teaching methods do you use to help students learn Chinese language and improve their pronunciation?

I tailor made audio clips and flash cards with review in each lesson to ensure the student learnt following their objectives. I do list out the mistake found in Google or even ChatGPT in particular phrases or slang. Student reports are provided after each lesson with Cantonese text for enriching the learning for next level.

Q: Do you have experience with online teaching platforms or virtual tutoring, and what is your preferred method of communication with students?

I use both online (say Zoom) and in person tutoring to let my students to see how my mouth and tongue moves as well as nostril breathing for Cantonese specific words.

Q: What resources do you use to supplement your lessons, such as textbooks, online materials, or videos?

The Cantonese material made for US diplomats who worked in the 70's Hong Kong is used as reference. Since I live in Hong Kong for almost 60 years and speak Cantonese and English in my career, I compare internet information from US with my own experience to ensure the pronunciation is the same as the official Cantonese which is recognised in 70's of Hong Kong.

Q: How do you tailor your lessons to each student's learning style and preferences?

In the first lesson, which is free of charge , I made use it to clarifying the learning objectives which is achievable with my teaching materials. In addition, I would test and evaluate the student's Cantonese `speaking as well as listening capabilities during the first lesson. Minor adjustment could be applied to changing the pace of learning such that I may give an extra 10 minutes ( free of charge) wrap up to align the expectation of next lesson.

Q: Do you offer any cultural insights or background knowledge along with your language lessons?

Yes, interesting cultural or historical context are included in flash cards and even songs or poem to make the lesson interesting and memorable. Jokes of Cantonese pronunciation mistakes are also listed out with demonstrations to enhance the memory for the students.

Q: How do you help students practice their Chinese language skills outside of class, and what resources do you recommend for further practice?

i checked with my students their way of living, leisure time, hobbies or where they used to hang out or shopping, site seeing etc personal activities ( or Scenarios) to cater Cantonese phrases

Q: How do you approach teaching Chinese language to students who are not fluent in Mandarin or other Chinese dialects?

I would ask the student what is the motivation or objection for speaking Cantonese with Hongkongers. Cantonese is a difficult language in which some word or phrases can N O T be written and knowing Mandarin does NOT help indeed. If the student has a solid and bold mindset then we can work together, otherwise , I would recommend the student to think again if he/she wanna start with upcoming paid lesson
