I ask questions and have a chat to better understand each student's learning style and preferences before I tailor the specific material.

I would recommend listening to things in the specific language and using the phrases learned outside of class.

Dependent on student's learning style, but typically I would start them off with situational phrases. I would also focus on accuracy before moving onto memorization or other materials.
