As a born-and-raised American, I realize how valuable my natural fluency, thorough vocabulary, and intuitive diction are in an international environment such as Berlin. Having spent the first 21 years of my life in The United States, I am versed not only in formal English speaking and writing, but also in the less-often-taught colloquial language that characterizes native-speakers' language. I have extensive experience with proof-reading, vocabulary development, articulation/inflection guidance, and colloquial grammar. I have over five years of experience teaching English and I hold a 168-hour TEFL Certificate, issued by The TEFL Academy, accredited by Qualifi and The DEAC (Distance Education Accrediting Commission). In my five years teaching English lessons online and in-person, I have worked with numerous students from a variety of linguistic and cultural backgrounds including Korean, Italian, French, Russian, Chinese, Dutch, Israeli, German, Turkish, Polish, Japanese. My students have ranged from young elementary-level English learners to PhD students, university professors to business professionals working in highly specialized fields. I like to work together with my students to identify their linguistic needs and intentions in order to choose methods that enable them to reach their goals, quickly and effectively. My name is Lea and I'm a US college student, currently residing in Berlin (Mitte) while conducting my studies remotely. For as long as I can remember, I have had a love for writing and oral debate. In the past, I have won prizes for my achievements both in literary expression in English (grand prize) and German (Scheffel award). From growing up in Germany to living in California, I have maintained a special focus on the English language, whether in written expression or oral debate. I have been teaching both English and German for years now which has provided me with valuable experience as an educator of high school students and adults alike.
