My education was in Neuroscience and Chemistry - I have a Bachelors in Chemistry and neurocience from Portland State University (Oregon), an MBA and Masters in Leadership Science from WGU (Utah) and over 8 years of professional teaching experience, both in the classroom and in a one-on-one setting. I am some kind of science guy. I have more than ten years of experience in chemical laboratories and more than five years of experience in the classroom. I have also been a long-term substitute teacher for grades 6 through 12 for Anatomy, Chemistry, Physics, and General Science three months at a time. I am a PostDoc at Rutgers University who enjoys science. I do research in Theoretical Chemistry, which involves Chemistry, Physics (Quantum Mechanics) , Math and Coding (Fortran !! and Python). I am passionante about teaching because this the only way to propagate and consolidate science in the community. I always make sure that the students understand what science is about and how they can use scientific concepts to understand their world. I have taught IB, A-Level, and AP curricula, as well as chemistry and biochemistry at the college level. I have a Ph.D. in chemistry, and in my teaching I focus on making sure students understand the underlying concepts of the material we are learning. I use scaffolding techniques and teaching-by-analogy, which allows students to ground new concepts in experiences they already understand. Almost all of my teaching experience has been with second-language learners of English, and so I've developed approaches to help students understand complex concepts in simple language. I have taught physics in the past, as well as biochemistry, and so I can help students contextualize their chemistry content into a broader understanding of physical and life sciences.
