I am Midas, a local Hong Kong citizen. I obtained a PhD in English Literature from the University of Birmingham, under a scholarship awarded by the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council, as well as an MPhil in English from the University of Hong Kong. My specialty is in Old English (i.e., Anglo-Saxon) and Latin. Learning these two languages—even from scratch—is an achievable task: it does not need to be difficult. It expands your understanding of the humanities in a unique way, and it offers an entirely new perspective on language, cultures, and values.
