My name is Alejandra Paulino and I am second year student at Cornell University. During my time in high school I tutored 2-7th graders. I started a tutoring service in my high school for 5th graders who were failing their common core classes and allowed 15 of the students whom I was tutoring to pass onto the 6 grade. During my time at Cornell, I tutored high schoolers and middle schoolers in Ithaca for a total of two semesters. I will continue this service once I go back.

I am passionate about helping learners with maths. I make classes fun and enjoyable. I am patient, and I can explain maths in different ways until the learner understands. I live in Cape Town, specifically in the Durbanville area in South Africa. I have experience in teaching and tutoring, and I also have a background in psychology. I worked at a small school for kids with learning disabilities. I tutored the CAPS curriculum (the current standard curriculum) to a mixed class of children ranging from grade 3 to 7. In addition, I have been tutoring privately for the past 2 years. I hold an Honours degree in Psychology, and I am currently registered as a counsellor. Due to this background in psychology, I have extensive knowledge regarding learning styles and learning problems/disorders. I am able to adapt myself to the learning style of the learner. I have recently graduated as a chemical engineer from HKUST. I scored 5 A*s in my A Levels and was offered a full scholarship from HKUST. I have been teaching students for the last 5 years, and students have noticed at least one grade improvement following tutoring from me. I love to teach Mathematics, but my background and university courses allow me to teach Chemistry, Physics, Accounting, and Economics up to A levels as well. My main focus is for students to ask questions and learn to love the subject by exploring the applications of the subject.
