I spent 10 years of my childhood in mainland China learning Mandarin at a local school and learned Taiwan Mandarin a few years after I moved to Hong Kong. Furthermore, I passed the PSC (National Putonghua Proficiency Test) exam with a Grade 2 level A result, which is mainly required for teaching the language.
