Hi! I am a fully qualified and internationally experienced ESL teacher. I grew up in Auckland, studied in Wellington and have taught English in Spain, Colombia, Vietnam and Singapore, as well as online. I have a Bachelor's degree with Honours in Spanish and a minor in Linguistics, as well as a Cambridge CELTA internationally recognised ESL teaching qualification. I am culturally aware and interested, and if you are a Spanish speaker, I can give you support in Spanish. Having lived abroad for nearly 5 years, I am always interested in meeting people from elsewhere. I know the feeling of being a foreigner! I have also worked extensively with children. Hello, Thank you for taking the time on reading this. I'm going to keep this short and hopefully sweet. I was born here in the Philippines and moved to California when I was 7. Currently I am living in Manila. English may not be my first language but, it is the language I grew up speaking. I have a B.A. in Vissual Communications and use to teach High School Art Classes. I have been teaching on-line the past 6 months and have my TESOL/TEFL certification. As far as business, I was a training Manager in Jamba Juice and Coffee Bean, It may not have been English I was teaching in those classes but, it was still public speaking. Chris finished his undergraduate degree in Drama and Theatre studies at The University of Chester in 2016. He later returned to complete a PGCE in Secondary Drama Education, where having met the required standards, he qualified as an Outstanding Teacher of Drama in 2018. He has previously worked in two UK schools teaching Drama and also has some leadership experience as the Assistant Head of Key Stage 4. He now joins Amnuay Silpa School as a teacher of Drama. Chris’ passion for working with young people began while volunteering as a director for a community youth theatre project in 2010. This initial experience of directing small stage productions has grown exponentially ever since. More recently, he has spent 3 months of the previous 5 years in America working as the Drama programme coordinator at a summer camp in Pennsylvania. These experiences have shaped Chris’ approach to teaching and his pedagogical methods. One particular focus of all Chris’ lessons is promoting pupil voice. He believes educators must ensure that they create the correct conditions needed to foster positive relationships and build productive learning environments in order to achieve this. In terms of being a drama teacher, this means that it is ultimately his responsibility each lesson, to inspire young people to exceed their own expectations by being passionate and knowledgeable, modelling a constant curiosity and love of learning. His goal as a teacher is to foster self-awareness in his classes and encourage student ownership of learning. Within his teaching practice, he takes a progressive approach towards the application of teaching and learning. Inquiry learning, problem based learning, activated learning, dialogue, debate and discussion are all approaches he utilises within his practice. Finally, Chris is an enthusiast for film and video production and the stage; having much experience as an actor, theatre technician and director.
