I'm a 25-year old grammar nerd whose biggest strength is my language abilities. I have family living in both the UK (London and Birmingham, England) and in the US (New York), so I've grown up with the English language as well as my native Danish language. I speak with an American accent by choice, but through my childhood, I've also mastered the British accent. My strong-suits in English are: a) my fluency in speech and b) my understanding of grammar. In fact, my passion (or nerdiness) for grammar is so strong that my high school English teacher ended up recommending me for a job as a proofreader - a job which I accepted and enjoyed very much. Perhaps more than the average person would enjoy proofreading... In my home country of Denmark, I work as a psychological counselor for patients with chronic pain issues, and I also work in a residential institution for adults with developmental disorders. I'm currently on leave of vacation as I'm volunteering in a holistic rehab center on the island of Koh Phangan, Thailand. I've facilitated group tutoring at my own university for three years (including classes such as Social & Personality Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Work & Organizational Psychology). I have worked as a professional proof-reader to correct grammar, syntax and the structure of E-books about stress and mentoring. Before arriving in Thailand in October, last year, I was working in Tanzania, East Africa, as an English teacher in two different nursery schools. Currently, I am volunteering at a rehab center on Koh Phangan, which is why I seek to work online in my free time so that I can pay my rent.

I am from Yorkshire, a county in the north of England known for its Roman and Viking heritage. At 18, I moved to Warwick in the heart of England to study Physics. Then, I moved even further south, to London. During my PhD in Geoscience in London, I started tutoring science privately. After completing my PhD, I lectured for 1 year at University College London. In 2020, I moved to Potsdam, where I spent 2 years as a researcher at the Deutsches GeoForschungsZentrum GFZ. In 2023, I began to return to teaching. Currently, I teach English and Yoga in Potsdam. I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and helping them build confidence in English.

I like to get to know my students and find out what their needs are. Don't be surprised if I do a quick, informal assessment on you. This will save your time and my time, while also ensuring you're learning and enjoying the sessions with me. In my lessons, we will engage in activities, games, watch videos, or listen to music to expose you to as much English as possible, just like in the real world. I can work with students online or in face-to-face settings. I use the PPP structure to prepare most of my lessons, which makes learning English easier. Examples are presented to the students first, then a practice session, and finally a production session where students work in groups, pairs, or independently to use English in integrated skills. Using the PPP structure maximizes the students' use of all necessary skills: speaking, listening, writing, reading, critical thinking, teamwork, autonomy, and vocabulary. As a graduate student in TESOL, I have developed my own assessments, tests, exams, and rubrics to supplement my students' learning based on what research has shown to be most effective. I hold a PGCE in education, TEFL Level 3 diploma, Business English diploma, and GCSEs in 4 subjects, including English.
