I have been on this educational/teaching path for most of my life, starting as a tutor in high school when I was 15 years old. Encouriging them to aspire to great success. Everyone learns in a unique way. By identifying how the learner thinks, I spot where the mistakes and confusion creeps in. My teaching addresses these painpoints resulting in structured improvement in their knowledge foundations. I focus on Mathematics, Chemistry, English and Afrikaans. Travelling to the learner's home is preferred and I am based in Brooklyn, Pretoria. It is best to work with a long term plan, a couple of lessons over a couple of weeks, to significantly improve the learner's understanding of the subject. In this case the first lesson is used to gauge what level of understanding the student currently has as well as to map out our lessons, what will be covered when. If a learner is only looking for a once of lesson, this can also be accommodated. In this case I will request that the learner clearly indicates exactly which sub section of the subject, ie which chapter of which textbook, the learner would like me to address.

I am currently studying computer programming in Canada. When I was in my home country (India), I used to teach kids math from grade 1 to 8 at my place. The method I have always used to make it easier for students to understand was to first explain the concept verbally and then ask them to explain it back to me to ensure their understanding. Only after I felt they knew the concept, I would show them a practical example and then guide them to solve similar examples on their own, gradually increasing the difficulty level. After completing a unit or chapter, I would administer a test with various types of problems to assess their performance. Additionally, after every three chapters, I would conduct a combined test. I also included two main exams, divided into parts similar to mid-term and final exams, to ensure their progress is on the right track. In conclusion, a balanced approach of theory (30%) and practical examples (70%) is the most effective way for students to learn, especially in subjects like mathematics.
