Hi there!

My name is Nica, and I am a second-year actuarial science student at the University of Cape Town.

My hobbies are squash and tennis - I currently play for the UCT team.

My experience in tutoring began in 2021. I tutored all the way from high school and then started working under a tutoring company called Olico, where I tutored grade 8s and 9s in mathematics. I still volunteer to tutor at church, specifically in physical sciences. I love helping students succeed in these difficult subjects and seeing progress in their understanding.

I usually start off with a summary of what the student should know. Normally, the student just agrees as I give the summary. If they hear something unfamiliar, I dwell on the concept with some examples. Then I dive into proper test and exam examples to gauge their level of understanding.

After the examples, I jot down any mistakes or concepts the student struggled with, and that becomes their revision study note for that session. Read less
