Questions for You

Q: What age range of students do you usually work with?

I am experienced from students of different age, varies from age of 3 to 80. I specialised on teaching pre-school age and help them to get into ideal primary school. I also teach retired elderly for leisure as well as working teachers for improving tectonics.

Q: How do you approach lesson planning and preparation?

I have set lesson plan based on Alfred basic piano courses plus extra materials as the students are at different levels and grades. Others like Beyer, A Dozen a day and Everybody can also help building up good fundamental for beginners. For move by up higher levels, other repertoires from different composers like Burgmuller op100 and Bach first lesson are very useful for students to develope mature skills.

Q: How do you measure progress and assess learning outcomes for your students?

Students are free to send me videos after lessons so I can correct their mistakes before next lesson and to build their regular practice habit. I also provide a practice chart for students to fill and exchange for rewards.

Q: Do you provide regular homework and assignments, and how do you review and provide feedback on student work?

I follow alfred basic piano courses and we have weekly theory homework as well as pieces to be completed. Usually students will have one technical exercise, one new piece and one half done piece each lesson.

Q: What technology or resources do you use to enhance your lessons, particularly for online sessions?

For online lessons I have duo camera for my zoom account so student can see the whole keyboard during lessons, or we can use other apps like facetime/wechat, will send over notes to studens after each lessons

Q: Do you provide any additional support outside of scheduled lesson times, such as answering questions via email or phone?

My studio provides regular performance opportunities and we motivate students to join different competitions. I also built a volunteer performance team for regular visits to elderly home, so students can share their love with music.

Q: Do you have any specific strategies for motivating students who may be struggling or disengaged with the subject material?

For individual lessons we tailor made our goals according to the student’s need. We set goals after discussions and will help them step by steps to achieve.

Q: Do you have experience working with students with learning differences or special needs?

Besides my degrees I have also studied a Professional certificate in mysic therapy to help students with special needs e.g. SEN, audism etc. They all can get good results.
