Having graduated from NUS with a degree in English Literature (Hons) in 2016, I have been tutoring for three years full-time (five years as an undergraduate part-time). On average, my students have improved by two grades. I only provide tuition on a pay-per-lesson basis. I am typically described as a highly energetic and motivated tutor who will source useful teaching materials and ensure that students genuinely engage in class, instead of being spoon-fed. My name is Mrs. Marica Chan, and I have taught English as a native English teacher (NET) in HK primary and secondary schools for all areas of English, including speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and phonics. I have experience with DSE, DSS, ESF, and international (IB, IGCSE, GCEAL) syllabus/curriculum for over 12 years, in addition to 8 years of tutoring which includes preparation for external international English exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, SAT, and CAMBRIDGE. I specialize in speech training, including public speaking, debate, and interviews. I have also worked as a psychotherapist and counselor in Canada, focusing on childhood education and development. Furthermore, I am able to provide tips for other subjects, as half of my current tutorial students' parents are school teachers.
