I am a semi-retired academic, having taught German and and Italian language ad literature as well as English for interdisciplinary courses. In English I specialist in language and literature (for exam purposes or otherwise) and can teach from beginner's level through to advanced level courses, or post-graduate; I have supervised many a post-graduate essay.dissertation or thesis in a number of different subject areas and can provide hands one, face-to-face mentoring and editing for Masters and PhD students. Having a PhD myself in Comparative Literature I can help the student to craft their use of language in such a way so as to be most effective.

It depends what I am teaching. When teaching English I like to emphasis how sentence structures work and if the student is a second-language speaker my aim is to make them feel independent wit the language, not to use stock phrases. I lay great emphasis on reading and developing vocabulary and helping the student to find their own voice. This same methodology I employ when teaching Italian or German.
