My name is Melissa and I’m from Cambridge in the U.K. I have over 10 years of teaching experience, 7 of those in the Hong Kong school system as well as 5 years of private tutoring in Hong Kong! My professional life I have a Construction Management Degree and had previously run a medium-sized construction company, carrying out building projects of all sizes, as well as managing Building Loss claims for a multitude of different Insurance companies. I spent several terms as a politician in the UK, helping people with a variety of issues from Housing to Social Care. I have now been living and teaching in Asia for over 10 years. Since I moved here, I have been teaching students of all ages, from challenging 3-year-old right up to business professionals of all ages and from all areas of business.

In my experience, not many local students in Hong Kong are exposed to the fun of reading English literature so I want to spread my enthusiasm for the subject to the students I teach. I have first-hand experience of both A-Level and HKDSE systems. I studied texts under the HKDSE curriculum in Hong Kong up till Form 5 and studied in the UK for sixth form, where I achieved grades of A*A*A* in English Literature, History and Mathematics. I write 4,000-word essays every two weeks for my degree at UCL, so I have more than enough experience of teaching essay writing.
