Then you fall a little behind, and because you’re behind, you start to dread it even more. This makes it harder to catch up. I was there too. What changed things for me was a tutor who explained it in a simpler way and worked through questions with me until it clicked. That’s the same support I offer now. I have over 2 years of tutoring experience and completed the full IB pathway (PYP, MYP, DP) at the International School Hilversum. In their quest to do well, students often find themselves navigating a teaching approach that, by necessity, prioritizes this group environment, and they end up having to find their way through topics and exams alone. Having been in both the student and teacher roles of the academic experience, I have encountered the range of challenges and pitfalls that often lead to unsuccessful outcomes and, in the worst cases, a misjudgment of our own abilities and a lowering of our own potential.
