Hello from the Long Island Green Dome!
My name is Versha, and I teach English as a second language to students living in other countries and in the US as well. I teach students from ages 5–18 looking to improve their conversational and academic English. I use content and language-based strategies to teach vocabulary and critical thinking skills. I am a certified ESL teacher with specialized certifications in teaching young learners and error correction.
Today’s modern language learning opportunities provide an authentic experience and I believe supplemental educators play an important role in your academic education and social-emotional learning. I believe in increasing one’s knowledge base for intrinsic and extrinsic benefits. As a student, you are making a valuable choice by adding supplemental education to your academic breadth.

Let me tell you about myself. I live in a geodesic home made from recycled and sustainable materials that is powered thru solar and wind energy. I recently became a Master Gardener and learned about best garden practices and giving back to the community as a volunteer. I have been an owner and Instructor of an after-school supplemental learning center (Kumon). I operated and taught Math and Reading at Kumon for 12 years during which I also raised two amazing sons who are computer engineers. They credit supplemental learning for their success in school. Supplemental learning benefits all students! I have taught English as a second language online and in classrooms. I taught young students and adult students in Nicaragua at a bi-lingual school and also learned Spanish myself! I have taught and currently teach English online to students of all ages from China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Brazil, India, and Korea. I have traveled to India, Iceland, Spain, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua. I speak Hindi fluently and Spanish at the beginner level.

I use content and language-based methods to teach vocabulary. I use a student's natural inclination towards a subject to draw out interest to retain what they have learned.
I am an observant and responsive teacher keeping an eye out for global and local errors in pronunciation and grammar.
I expect students to be respectful and engaged in the classroom as I will be with them.
I use an online platform with digital props and realia to make connections to the lesson.
