Katarina is a native Mandarin speaker. She is able to understand Cantonese as well. She is using both traditional and simplified Chinese characters. Katarina loves to help students achieve their goals in study. She is a professional teacher with more than 15 years teaching experience for IB, IGCSE/GCSE , A level, AP and Ancient Chinese subjects. She used to work for an international school in Hong Kong and had three years full-time homeschooling teaching experience for a Swedish family (3 students age between 11 and 15). She also worked as a university tutor at School of Chinese (HKU) for 2 years. Apart from that, she provided customised language lessons designed for expat families after their relocation to Hong Kong. At the moment, she is a full-time private tutor.

She used a variety of teaching methods in the classroom, such as grammar-translation, the communicative approach and task-based learning. She also helped her students enhance their memory. In her spare time, she likes to cook and trains her birds to talk.

My approach will depend on the student’s needs and learning style. However, my teaching is based on encouraging students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible.
