Norrasate Udakarn
Norrasate Udakarn started learning music at the Prince Royal’s College Winds with Aj Somchai Jaitong and Aj. Yuttapol Sakthamjalearn at age 11. During this period, Norrasate attended many music activities such as "The Emotion of Music" parts 1-13 and "The Show in Closing 13th Asian Game". After that, he entered Chiang Mai University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (2nd Class Honors). He then returned to the school as a Band director for a year before furthering his music studies to a master's degree at Mahidol College of Music, majoring in Trombone Performance. At Mahidol, Norrasate studied with Pf. Phillip Brink, Dr. Joseph Bowman, and Dr. Daren Robbins. He attended Masterclasses with Boston Brass, Ambassador Brass, Ronald Baron, Reinhold Friedrich, Joe Burgstaller, Yeh Shu Han, Jarod Vermette, Christophe Ess, and many other brass artists. At Mahidol, he was a member of Mahidol Winds Symphony, Mahidol Symphony Orchestra, and Mahidol Pop Orchestra. Norrasate was also a member of the Southeast Asia Youth Orchestra and Wind Ensemble in 2007 and 2008. In 2013, he performed Williams Goldstein’s "Colloquy for Trombone" with The Chiang Mai Wind Ensemble and Launy Grondahl’s "Trombone Concerto" with Chiang Mai Symphony Orchestra in 2016.
In 2022, he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Music from Khon Kaen University. At this moment, he is now an Assistant Professor of Music and a full-time Low Brass Instructor at the College of Music, Payap University. He is also the principal trombonist of the Chiang Mai Symphony Orchestra and Concert Band, and the founder of the Super Brass Ensemble and Someday Brass.
