I was very fortunate in having an excellent Ivy League education: a Master's Degree from Brown University in American Civilization, another Master's Degree in Education from Fairfield University, and a BA from Middlebury College in American Studies. I continued my education with science courses at the University of New Mexico, specifically in Biology and Chemistry.

After receiving my Master's Degree in Education, I was a classroom teacher of science and math. After almost a decade, I turned from classroom teaching to one-on-one tutoring. I am still actively involved as a tutor and I love this work. Online tutoring works so well because my students can contact me anytime for a quick question or a longer session.

Some of the strategies I use when teaching math or the sciences is to illustrate a concept with a concrete example. To understand the concept of a vacuum and how air moves from an area of higher pressure to an area of lower pressure, I open a can of tennis balls!
I also help students understand the steps in a compllicated math problem by substituting simple numbers for more complex numbers that may have decimals or fractions.
