While a tutor is still an authority figure in a student-centered teaching environment, the tutor and student play an equally active role in the learning process, in my opinion.

The tutor's primary role is to be a coach and facilitate students in their learning experience, as well as to measure student learning through both formal and informal forms of assessment, such as group projects, student portfolios, and class participation.
