When I teach my learners, I start by explaining the content. After explaining the content, that's when I ask them questions to see whether they understand what I've been explaining, or if there is a problem. Silence will tell me that there is a problem. That's when I move on to stage 2, where I teach them how to understand the content by having them change everything into their own words, making it easier for them to remember.
