I specialise in all areas of the SAT and ACT Language exams, including reading comprehension, grammar, and writing. I usually work with high school students preparing for these standardised tests, but I am also experienced in helping younger students build foundational skills and advanced students aiming for top scores
My approach involves teaching specific strategies for each section of the test. For time management, I emphasize the importance of pacing and practice timed sections to build speed and accuracy. For test-taking skills, I teach techniques such as process of elimination, identifying question types, and understanding the test's structure. I also provide guidance on educated guessing strategies, such as eliminating clearly wrong answers and making informed guesses when unsure.
I stay updated on any changes to the SAT and ACT test formats and content by reviewing official test materials and resources. I use current practice tests and study guides to ensure my lessons are aligned with what students will encounter on the actual exams.
My teaching methodology is student-centered and adaptive. I begin by assessing each student's strengths and weaknesses to tailor my instruction to their specific needs. I structure lessons to include a mix of direct instruction, guided practice, and independent practice. I also incorporate regular reviews and assessments to monitor progress and adjust the lesson plans accordingly.

I use a variety of materials for my tutoring sessions, including official SAT and ACT practice tests, study guides, grammar workbooks, vocabulary lists, and online resources. I also incorporate articles, essays, and literature to provide diverse reading and writing practice.
To improve writing skills, I focus on teaching the writing process: brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising, and editing. I emphasize the importance of clear thesis statements, coherent paragraphs, and strong supporting evidence. I provide regular feedback on student essays and offer targeted exercises to address specific areas of weakness.
I teach grammar and vocabulary through direct instruction, practice exercises, and contextual learning. For grammar, I explain rules and concepts, followed by exercises to reinforce understanding. For vocabulary, I use techniques such as word lists, flashcards, and incorporating new words into writing assignments. I also encourage reading to naturally expand vocabulary and see grammar in context.
Depending on time and availability, I can offer mock exams for students to practice. These mock exams simulate the actual test conditions, helping students become familiar with the format, timing, and pressure of the real exam. After each mock exam, we review the results and identify areas for improvement.
I teach students to write well-structured essays by breaking down the essay-writing process into manageable steps. I emphasize the importance of planning and outlining before writing. I teach them to develop a clear thesis statement, organize their ideas logically, and use appropriate transitions between paragraphs. I also provide templates and examples of well-structured essays.
To improve pronunciation and intonation, I use phonetic exercises, audio recordings, and repetition drills. I also provide specific feedback on individual sounds and stress patterns. I encourage students to practice speaking regularly and to mimic native speakers through listening exercises and shadowing techniques.
