I am a qualified special needs teacher, and I have been teaching History to high school students for over five years at an LSEN school in Cape Town. I also have classroom experience teaching the Intermediate Phase (Middle School). I strive to make my classes as interactive and authentic as possible by introducing real-life experiences and scenarios into what can often feel like heavy content areas. I believe in a gentle approach by meeting students needs where they currently at and to scaffold student's understanding in such a way which makes them feel like they are succeeding. It is so important to use positive reinforcements. At the same time, I try to make my lessons interesting by linking content to their daily context.
