I graduated with an MEng Honours degree in Materials Science from the University of Oxford. With a strong academic record, I am well-grounded in the key elements of applied Chemistry, Physics, and Maths. I understand the tools and techniques required to succeed in examinations and applications, up to this level, including 11+ and 13+ common entrance exams.

I have experience tutoring international school students in science and mathematics, following the UK Curriculum, in Hong Kong. Prior to that, I supported Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) activities in a school environment as part of The Flying Start Challenge. This competition was for students ranging from Year 7 to Year 9, where I taught the fundamentals of flight and assisted groups in their project work. I have taught both large classes and provided support to smaller groups.

I have also taught English as a foreign language to adults. In this role, I prepared lesson materials, marked homework, and reviewed answers in class. The challenge was to ensure that the material catered to the different levels of English within the class.

I enjoy motivating students and sharing my knowledge in subjects that I am passionate about. When teaching, I assess the students' strengths and learning styles in order to tailor my approach to their specific needs.

I believe that developing important soft skills at a young age through extra-curricular activities is especially significant when transitioning from a learning environment to the world of employment. An approach I find to be most helpful to students especially when outside of a school environment is based on question-prompting to get students to critically think, ask questions, and gain knowledge from their observations. Using different methods and media to repeat a question relating to key concepts also helps the student memorise these. Leggi di meno
