I am a psychotherapist (psychotherapeutic scolaire) and teacher from the USA, where I most recently worked in the top-ranked public high school in Louisiana. I moved permanently to Marseille on 01 June of this year; subsequently, I am seeking to take students for online or home-bound instruction/tutoring of English as a Second Language (ESL). I can work with students ages 9-25, from absolute beginners to advanced. My training and experience as an opera singer make me especially qualified to focus on accent reduction and speaking skills. In addition, I have advanced degrees (including a Ph.D.) that have prepared me to help my students with their writing skills. Lastly, I can provide preparation for the TOEFL, GRE, and other English-language exams, and coaching for job interviews and study-abroad programs.

My name is Thalia Choolan. I love teaching and creating new levels of teaching to make things easier with a better understanding of my students. I am an experienced tutor who improves assignments and essay writing skills at a high school and university level. For high school students, I can help with a variety of subjects, including English, Philosophy, Media Studies, and Sociology/Anthropology/Psychology. Tutoring can include homework help or my own lesson plans if we need to focus on any specific unit. With university students, I look at giving feedback and directing you to academic resources. Building research skills is absolutely critical for your essay, and can greatly influence your grade.

I am an experienced tutor in Mississauga who spent over three years employed at Kumon Math & Reading Centre, where I worked individually with students of various learning styles and ages, ranging from pre-kindergarden to fifth grade. Now my goal is to follow my passion and continue teaching so that I may give students the positive mind frame and support they need to improve and develop a love for learning. I am able to teach all aspects of English, whether a student requires assistance with reading comprehension, pronunciation, writing skills, or any other aspect of the subject. I also spent eight years enrolled in the Extended French program, which has provided me with the ability to teach French comprehension and grammar. I hope to instil a confident and passionate outlook on education within students through tending to their academic needs, so that they may strive for greatness and achieve their goals.

I offer private tutoring from my elegant home on East 63rd Street on New York's Upper East Side.
