I have a huge passion for teaching English online and helping my students to achieve their academic goals throughout the year. Hi. I'm a tutor with 10 years experience tutoring English, History and Psychology working in West Yorkshire and Manchester. More recently I've worked as an English Lecturer at a further education college, having taken a year off from study where I'm training to be a Speech and Language Therapist. As you can probably tell, I really love English! So much so, I've written a couple of study guides and I'm probably set to write a few more! Got one or two forthcoming on some Shakespeare plays and one planned for Jekyll and Hyde (concentration and time this summer permitting). I'm coming at English (and Psychology and History for that matter) from a unique perspective. As a speech and language therapy student, I'm into the nuts and bolts of English in terms of linguistics, psychology, pragmatics, phonetics, neuroscience etc. As an English lecturer and tutor, I'm interested in how authors communicate their ideas over space and time and I love pairing that up with ideas from neuroscience and linguistics. As an avid reader, I love sharing ideas and experiences with students. If you're becoming jaded with your subjects, I am the tutor for you. I'll aim to instill or restore a love of the subject. I'm a British and Canadian (Ontario) certified teacher with nine years of full time. I have taught subjects including Math (Grade 6-9) English (Grade 9-11) Science (Grade 7-10) and Geography (Grade 7 -13). I'm a huge puzzle nerd! Puzzle boxes and riddles of all shapes and sizes make regular appearances in my classes. I normally teach critical thinking with the foundation based in the trivium - Logic, Rhetoric, and Grammar. An online platform like this helps me to continually adapt my content by engaging with other cultures, both strengthening my teaching ability and giving clients a fun interactive experience.

I am active in the arts scene in New York and in the broader academic scene in the states, having presented at conferences along the East Coast. I am an experienced writer in all types of different styles and am comfortable with both creative and professional content, so I would love to help with essays or creative writing assignments (I am weirdly excited by new projects of that kind). Additionally, I do SAT / GRE (etc.) verbal sections, as I scored well but understand how foreign these tests can feel at times. I'm also an experienced English as second (or third or fourth) language teacher and would be interested in working with students in this context, especially French speakers as I am an advanced learner French myself.
