Clement is a Year 3 undergraduate at Nanyang Technological University, studying Chemistry and Environmental Science. He has been a part-time tutor for the past four years and is currently tutoring two students, one of whom is sitting for their O Levels in 2023. I graduated with an MEng Honours degree in Materials Science from the University of Oxford. With a strong academic record, I am well-grounded in the key elements of applied Chemistry, Physics, and Maths. I understand the tools and techniques required to succeed in examinations and applications, up to this level, including 11+ and 13+ common entrance exams. I have experience tutoring international school students in science and mathematics, following the UK Curriculum, in Hong Kong. Prior to that, I supported Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) activities in a school environment as part of The Flying Start Challenge. This competition was for students ranging from Year 7 to Year 9, where I taught the fundamentals of flight and assisted groups in their project work. I have taught both large classes and provided support to smaller groups. I have also taught English as a foreign language to adults. In this role, I prepared lesson materials, marked homework, and reviewed answers in class. The challenge was to ensure that the material catered to the different levels of English within the class. I enjoy motivating students and sharing my knowledge in subjects that I am passionate about. When teaching, I assess the students' strengths and learning styles in order to tailor my approach to their specific needs. I believe that developing important soft skills at a young age through extra-curricular activities is especially significant when transitioning from a learning environment to the world of employment. My name is Frank (Lifu), I am 23 years old. I immigrated to Canada when I was just 10 years old. I completed my bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at McMaster University with a 3.7/4.0 GPA. I recently took a full-time position with a top structural engineering consulting firm in Hong Kong. I am very passionate in inspiring the young generation and enjoy teaching others. Hi! I’m a physics enthusiast currently completing the final semester of my MSc in Theoretical Physics at Utrecht University. My research focuses on galaxy-galaxy gravitational lensing in collaboration with the DESC and LSST-Rubin teams, and I’m preparing to continue to a PhD in astrophysics, where I’ll also take on teaching assistant duties. Tutoring is something I already enjoy — it lets me share my enthusiasm for maths and physics while further developing my teaching skills. I have found during my time as a tutor, the main issue is confidence, once the student's confidence increases, their attitude toward the subject improves, their quality of work improves and as a result they achieve above and beyond what they and their teachers thought they were capable of.
