Hi, I’m Chloe — a passionate MSc student at WITS with a strong background in science and education. I specialize in making complex biological concepts clear, engaging, and accessible for learners of all levels. With experience in both academic research and private tutoring, I bring a student-centered approach that adapts to individual learning styles, whether visual, auditory, or hands-on.
My tutorials focus on building understanding rather than rote memorization, empowering students to think critically and apply biology to real-world contexts. From cell biology and genetics to ecology and microbiology, I guide learners with patience, clarity, and enthusiasm.
I believe that every student can succeed in science when given the right tools and support — and I’m here to provide exactly that.
Over the last 20 years, I have gained significant classroom and management experience at several state, grammar, and independent schools. Although I have been out of the classroom environment recently, I continue to keep up to date with education policy and support students away from the school environment via home tutoring.
I am an experienced teacher with a passion for my subject and a great desire that all pupils across the ability range are inspired by Science. There is no greater job satisfaction for me than when that inspiration leads to students excelling in examinations or pursuing a career in medicine. As Head of Biology at Kingston Grammar School, I managed a team of four experienced teachers, as well as being actively involved in the overall management of the Science department.
I was successful in improving both A-Level and GCSE results year-on-year. I was responsible for coordinating Community Service placements for students in the wider community. I also worked closely with Brunel University with their PGCE program and was part of a team inspected by OFSTED, where I was awarded 'outstanding' in my mentoring work with PGCE students at Kingston Grammar.
While my teaching specialism is Biology, I have also taught Chemistry and Physics at Key Stages Three, Four, and A Level. I have a broad knowledge of the science curriculum and how it fits into schools' academic policies and wider educational policies. Additionally, I have a good understanding of the International Baccalaureate programs and vocational courses. I have written schemes of work and working policies for a department, as well as full risk assessments for practical work. Furthermore, I have experience with admitting new students to a school, whether it be a state school or an 11+ or Common Entrance at 13+. I have administered 11+ and 13+ examinations, as well as being part of a team of interviewers assessing a student's suitability for the school.
Hi! I'm Megan. I am most suited to teach primary and high school students Biology.
As a dedicated 2nd-year Computer Science student at Stellenbosch University, with linguistics as an elective, I have built a strong foundation in scientific reasoning, problem-solving, and communication.
In high school, I took physics, IT, and biology as electives - all of which I am highly passionate about. Biology quickly became one of my favorite subjects. My peers compliment me on my ability to explain biological processes as well as my essay writing skills.
I have previously mentored students while in matric year. My natural affinity for working with young people allows me to make genuine connections with students while maintaining an open, supportive environment. Building trust and understanding is an integral part of tutoring for me.
My analytical mindset lets me break down complex concepts and questions easily in an understandable, memorable way. Biology is not only about memorization - it is understanding systems, patterns, and connections in the natural world.
I take pride in my ability to shift teaching approaches based on individual needs. Whether you need help with cell biology, genetics, evolution, or human anatomy, I aim to make learning enjoyable. My greatest reward is seeing that 'AHA' moment light up in a student's eyes.
I hope to hear from you soon!

Full-time IB & A-Level tutor with an MBA and BSc specializing in Physics, Chemistry, Math, and Biology.
I have been tutoring since I was sixteen years old. What started as a small hobby of providing extra-curricular help for some of my IB classmates ten years ago has gradually evolved into a full-time passion of mine that I derive deep fulfillment from. In addition to the joy I feel from the teaching process itself, the fundamental reason I enjoy what I do lies in the mentorship I give to my students, and in providing them clarity in perspective, confidence in their own potential, and unwavering support throughout a time in their lives when things feel overwhelming and confusing.
Having graduated from the IB in 2014 from École Jeannine Manuel in Paris, and endured the grueling and competitive university selection process, I remember firsthand how much pressure students experience at this critical stage of their academic careers. This is a time when attaining a particular grade boundary dictates whether or not they'll be able to attend their dream university and begin the life they've envisioned for themselves.
This hyper-fixation on academic performance is often complemented by a collective learning environment that can easily neglect the unique, subtle nuances of each individual's learning style and pace. In wanting to do well, students often find themselves navigating a teaching approach that, by necessity, prioritizes this group environment, and they must find their own way through topics and exams - a path they don't need to navigate alone.
This is where I can help. Having been in both the student and teacher roles of the academic experience, I've encountered the range of challenges and pitfalls that often lead to unsuccessful outcomes, and in the worst cases, a misjudgment of our own abilities and a lowering of our own potential. In distilling my dual experience, I have understood the keystone component that determines where these outcomes fall: communication.
I am a dedicated Biology/Life Science tutor committed to making learning simple and engaging. My lessons are designed to be quick and easy to understand, ensuring that you grasp key concepts from the very first session. You are always encouraged to ask questions, creating an interactive and supportive learning environment where no topic is too difficult to tackle.
