English major students, with a score of 1550 on the SAT and a 7.5 on the IELTS.
Hello, my name is Anna and I am a first-year student at CUHK. I am an English major student in high school, achieving a score of 1550 on the SAT and 7.5 on my first attempt at the IELTS. Additionally, I am familiar with different English tests such as FCE, CAE, and CPE. I was a member of my province's English team, participating in the National English Competition in Vietnam.
I have two years of experience tutoring IELTS and SAT. One of my students raised her IELTS score from 6.0 to 7.0 in just two months. I also have a Facebook page with 3,600 followers where I share my experience in learning English.
I am currently living in hostels at the CUHK campus and I can provide both online lessons and offline lessons at the student's home.
English Language Exams tutor with academic excellence (online).
I have armed myself with more than five years of pedagogical experience. I started working as a part-time tutor when I was a sophomore. Most of my students were young learners cramming for IELTS/TOEFL tests. Before completing my bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Mahidol University, I had decided to be a freelance tutor and started to develop English courses on my own. They are based on the idea of creative, discussion-based, and interactive learning. The aim is to bolster students' confidence in using English in the long term. I won the 'Academic Excellence Scholarship' from the University of York, UK. Since gaining a master's degree in MA English Literary Studies from York, I have devoted myself to online teaching. This time, I teach English and English literature to high school students, university students, and adult learners. Apart from being an ardent tutor, I strive to be an attentive listener and supporter.
I spent 7 years in the English Department at Chinese International School, teaching from Year 7 to Year 13. I also worked in admissions, conducting English interviews. I'm currently an IB Lang Lit Paper 2 Examiner.
In 2023, I moved to Singapore with my family and am currently working part-time at a top international school - UWCSEA.
Here are some courses I can offer (for individual students or small groups):
1) Intensive, practical preparation for Paper 1 and Paper 2.
2) General reading, writing, and analysis skills for younger students.
3) Interview preparation.
4) SAT preparation - vocabulary, common question types.
5) IGCSE preparation.
I have 8+ years experience tutoring English of all levels in both Hong Kong and London, and have worked particularly closely with students from HK International Schools (HKIA, SIS, CIS) and Francis Holland School in London. I have previously taught English to students aged 4 to 36+, and have guided them through GCSE/IB/ A-levels as well as TOEFL/IELTS examinations. Personally, I hold a bachelors and masters of biomedical science from University College London, and Kings College London. I am now completing my PhD Candidature in neuroscience in the University of Hong Kong. With my diverse experience, I believe I can help you.
My goal in teaching is to offer a multicultural perspective that is deliberately linked to the curricula, while also fostering long-term life skills. I immediately establish a sense of comfort and intellectual freedom in my classroom, while maintaining high expectations for students by continuously challenging them with problems that require critical thinking and teamwork. These learning experiences empower them to gather high-quality data from various sources and enable effective communication in different narrative genres. Most importantly, my role is to consistently praise students for their initial steps towards reading and writing proficiency, and then guide them towards a path of self-education that will benefit them throughout their professional lives. I, too, am a lifelong learner committed to ongoing professional development, ensuring that students derive the maximum benefit from my teaching.

Certified British teacher and English tutor with 5 years of experience in a renowned British school.
I am a PGCE qualified teacher and have been teaching a British curriculum for the past 5 years. Currently, I teach History. However, the skills are transferable to English GCSE. Additionally, I studied English Language & Literature up to A-level, obtaining two A's (including an A at GCSE). I am an avid reader and learner with good knowledge of most British literature texts.
My experience has been that one-to-one personal tuition has a unique value to students because of the ability to resolve the student's personal barriers to learning in a way that lays the foundations for a deep and long-lasting understanding of the subject.
