During the current Covid pandemic I am teaching online using Zoom as well as providing limited face to face classes. I am a native English speaking graduate with a Bachelor Degree in History from the The University of Liverpool. I completed a TEFL 120-hour programme before I started my teaching journey over 6 years ago, where I learnt many valuable teaching techniques which has allowed me to develop a solid teaching ethos and style . With 6 years, hands on teaching experience, my students have found my lessons to be practical, rewarding, fun and engaging. I have lived and worked in Bangkok for 6 years, teaching students of all ages and in a variety of settings. I have extensive experience teaching; IELTS/TOEFL, conversation, general English, young learners and much more. I have taught Academic English writing to students attending Mahidol university. As well as leading intensive IELTS/TOEFL courses. I am a full-time English tutor of varying ages and abilities, as well as catering to individual learning goals. I have organized and led various exciting English summer camps within Thailand and Singapore for young learners. I also taught at businesses within Bangkok, focusing on business English, professional medical English for psychologists from Siriaj Hospital. Having worked in the education field within Thailand for the last 6 years I have valuable experience of the social and cultural needs involved when teaching Thai students.

I have mainly spoken English throughout my entire life. However, my skill in the language increased dramatically from the moment I set foot in Edinburgh, Scotland for the first time back in 2015 to receive my high school education. After spending 7 years there and graduating, my English skills have become excellent. Several friends have even told me that I speak English as well, if not better, than the native speakers there. For these reasons, I believe I am more than equipped to teach English at any level. However, I do feel particularly suited to teaching beginners and young kids due to my background of teaching youth baseball at YMCA Shatin.

I’m currently teaching English in various learning centers and St James Catholic Primary School in Hong Kong. Before teaching in Hong Kong I taught English and creative writing to kindergarten, primary, and middleschool students around Guangzhou that were from 4 to 13 years of age. Before Guangzhou I taught for Aston English in Hanzhong, China for six months. Over this time I have developed a strong passion for education and acquired the tools that help me be an effective educator and role model for young learners. Being that my educational training was in creative writing I seize every opportunity to instill the seeds of the creative process in my students. I also have an acoTESOL certificate, which the training I received from has greatly helped shape me as a foreign language teacher. I work best under the framework of being allowed creative freedom. In my opinion thus far, being allowed to shape the lessons to the needs of the students, as a teacher becomes acquainted with those needs over the semester, is a very effective way a teacher teaches. As a professional of any kind it’s my belief that one must have a certain degree of being able to go with the flow, in terms of flexibility, to keep a positive attitude.

Hi! My names Aqmar and I'm 18 years old. I graduated from Christian Alliance International School and am currently doing my Bachelors of Business Administration at Hong Kong Baptist University. I am a native English speaker raised in Hong Kong. I am currently residing in the Kowloon area but am willing to travel further towards Hong Kong island side to tutor.
