Hello! I'm Jodi, I am based in Cape Town and I have been a teacher for three years. I have a passion for teaching and helping my students recognise and achieve their goals. I have taught primary (English, Math and Social Studies) and high school (English) so I have a broad knowledge of English. I spent my first two years teaching in the Middle East and my last in South Africa. This has taught me how to teach in a way that is catered to the student's needs. Hello, I am an ESL tutor holding a B.A. in Teaching English with 22 years of experience teaching at elementary, secondary, and high schools. Additionally, I was awarded a 290-hour Master TEFL certificate (CELTA Level) by Premier TEFL in the UK. Through this certificate, I specialized in Business and General English, exam preparation for IELTS, TOEIC, TOEFL, conversation lessons, reading and writing, pronunciation, and online teaching English to young learners. As a child, I discovered that I wanted to become a teacher, and often acted as a teacher with my cousins and sister. Daily I taught my “students” lectures regarding Math and English, and at the end, gave them assignments to submit. I am Ellen, 35 years old from the Philippines. I graduated BS Psychology and currently taking Early Childhood Education. I also had a brief experience teaching Korean students ages 4-6 years old, as an ESL teacher before working for Convergys.

Hello! I am a full-time business student at the University of Southern California and currently spending a year at HKUST. I am based in Tseung Kwan O. My native language is English and my education has always been in English as I grew up in Canada. I am most confident tutoring English skills—from pronunciation to grammar to reading. In high school, I received a full score of 5 on AP English Literature and Composition and in 1st year university, I excelled in a 3rd year writing class. I have two Licentiate diplomas from the London College of Music and Trinity Guildhall in Speech & Drama, with over 4 years of competitive public speaking and performance arts experience. I also speak Cantonese with my family at home. As I have three younger siblings, led youth volunteer teams, and have worked with primary school students for 5+ years, I am familiar with the patience and enthusiasm that is most effective for younger learners. Hello! I previously worked as a playgroup and an English teacher at recognized learning centers in Hong Kong and I am currently freelancing. I absolutely miss working with children and I happen to have time in the morning to help with your kid/s' phonics, reading and writing! As an experienced teacher, I've learned to be engaging and patient, as well as to find the child's weakness and focus my teaching on that. Aside from that, I will communicate with your child in a clear and concise manner to help him familiarize with the English language and further gain confidence in his English speaking skills :) I am available to teach online in the mornings! My favorite style of teaching [English] is to create a fun, relaxed learning environment where I incorporate games or activities to increase confidence in the classroom and keep students motivated to learn! I am fully aware that each student learns at a different pace, so I create my curriculum in a way that everyone is on the same page. Children will forever hold a special place in my heart. I truly feel as though they have a quality about them that enables us, adults, to get in touch with our inner youth and innocence, qualities we tend to grow out of as we get older. They aide us in putting the little things back into perspective when, at times, we take them for granted! I can’t wait to challenge myself by coupling my prior three years worth of experience to new heights. Looking forward to meeting each and every one of you!
