Born and raised in Hong Kong, I attended DGS until 9th grade and then moved to Boston to attend a private prep school. During my high school years, I assisted teachers during after-school programs at a local elementary school. I also taught ESL English at the Chinatown community center. At Columbia University, I studied Art History and Psychology which allowed me to further hone my critical reading and writing skills. My name is Jaydene and I am an English teacher with IELTS certification and Teaching certification for students with special needs I hold a PGD in early childhood education. I worked at a private institution teaching the IGCSE curriculum to learners from years 1 - 10, as well as adult students preparing for IELTS and SAT exams. I worked with a variety of students including special needs, and students of many ages and backgrounds. When doing lessons with me, students will soon understand my methods of teaching are in accordance with what I feel is better suited to them as an individual, I keep my lessons fun so that I keep my students involved and interested in my lessons. For my younger students, I will follow lessons custom-made to suit their individual needs. I involve some Montessori methods when teaching as I believe it is a wonderful way to keep young students interested and involved. We use whiteboards and colored markers, threading laces through letters and Playdough to make letters of the alphabet and so much more. With my Adult students who are preparing for IELTS or SAT exams or just wanting to learn English as a second language, we go through Modules that are custom designed for each student's needs that will include speaking, listening, reading, and writing. I will discuss my student's progress and where I feel they need to focus more in order to help them succeed in their goals.
