I'm a passionate teacher. The main subject I teach is English. I grew up in Thailand, Australia and the UK, this gives me an advantage in communications as I'm well versed in both Thai and English as well as a cultural insight in different types of English. My ability to also speak Thai will exelerate in the teaching process of the student, of course the main language used will be English for familiarity purposes. How do I teach? I believe it's important to get to know students, understand how they learn and in turn allow them to absorb knowledge in a way that works for them. Making the learning process something educational and enjoyable at the same time by incorporating creative exercises and tests that relate to the subject at hand. I take a very open approach to learning, being a very creative and enthusiastic learner myself, I can empathise with the boredom of repetitive routine work which is why I'd like the chance to be able teach students how to enjoy learning instead of being something they are forced to do. I strongly believe you first have to put someone in an environment and mindset suitable for learning before you try to feed knowledge. I like to talk to the students to get an idea of where they stand or how they think, this way I can approach them as a teacher in a way specific to them, this will create comfortability which translates into clear thinking and an optimal work rate.

I love languages in general. I mainly teach English and Xhosa from grade 4 to grade 9. I enjoying the experience of making learning fun and not a chore.

Hello, My name is Rachael and I've been in Hong Kong for four years. Originally from the UK, I earned my BA hons in English at Queen Mary University of London and a PGCE and Masters in Education at The University of Nottingham. Currently, I teach at a top HK international school and am an examiner for AQA, CIE and IB. A favorite passion of mine is the academic conversation in which one may explore opposing points-of-view and similar views in literature. I have taught high school for three years and religious education for eight years. Additionally, I have been an advocate/counselor in a shelter for two years and served in the military for three.
