Born and raised in Illinois, Tariq Shah writes fiction and poetry. He holds a BA in English from DePaul University in Chicago, and an MFA in Creative Writing from St. Joseph's College, where he now teaches undergraduate English. From 2007-2009 he served in the US Peace Corps, during which time he taught 8th and 9th grade English in Moatize, Mozambique, and speaks Portuguese proficiently. An active percussionist for over 15 years, he performs regularly, and has extensive music performance, composition and education experience.

Hello! I am a Chicago based writer and English teacher. During the day, I work as a communications director for a large non-profit. I graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2016 with a degree in television writing and producing and I recently finished my masters in written communications at National Louis University. I have a passion for the written word and all of the intricacies of the English language.

My name is Maxzell, my friends and family call me Max. I live in a breath-taking country called South Africa. After I completed high school my identical twin sister and I travelled around the world for a bit for modelling. It was here I realized how much I love not only the English language but to teach and to write. I love the idea of expanding English, sharing my knowledge and in the same breath getting got to know different people online.
