I personally believe that education should not simply be about attaining straight As, although that is definitely crucial. It is also about viewing the world through an insightful lens, which is what literature can do. Education is about cultivating critical and independent thinking and encouraging students to find their own voice.

Greetings. I have been teaching English full-time for 30+ years, the last 13 in Hong Kong as a NET under the Hong Kong Government NET Scheme. I was born in New Zealand (British accent) and am now Australian. I have regular Hong Kong students from local as well as international schools and am fully conversant with the Hong Kong curriculum as well as that taught in the Hong Kong international schools. I can provide excellent references from my current and past Hong Kong students (two of whom have been studying with me for four years). Several of my past students are now attending UK and Australian universities. I get results! I offer a free 'getting to know you' lesson as it is important that there is a good match between tutor and student. I specialize in literature, grammar, IELTS preparation, and conversation exam preparation. I also tutor history and hold an Honours degree in English and History. I was Head of English for many years at my Australian school before relocating to Hong Kong.
