My name is Blaise, I am a qualified teacher from South Africa, currently working at a (soon to be) IB accredited International School called “Kunming World Youth Academy”. I received my BA Humanities degree and PGCE qualifications from Stellenbosch University. Although I have loved working in China and my job, as well as the school, I feel the location of the school has been an increasing challenge for me. I am dedicated, hard-working, and eager to learn. I believe that for the teacher; teaching and learning are synonymous. I am continuously looking for new ways to develop my lessons, which I know need to continuously be adapted and changed to cater to the diversity within a class. This is one of the many reasons I resonate with the values and principles promoted by IB, which I why I hope to instil my learners with the eagerness to be: inquirers, knowledgable, caring, balanced, reflective, communicators, principled, and risk-takers. I was very fortunate to be provided with the opportunity to develop my own curriculum for Grade 9 History which I was extremely grateful and excited to do! I am young and enthusiastic and believe I can bring an exciting dynamic into the learning environment. I believe that my experience in both the South African and Chinese education environment, has provided me with a unique ability to handle various and diverse learning pupils. I am a team player, patient and attentive while knowing that there needs to be a formal balance upon entering a classroom. I have a passion for History and English and consider it a gift to be able to engage with this passion in my job.

I am fluent in English and Spanish and I am able to tutor primary and secondary students in general subjects. I am able to tutor IB history, as I have just finished the IB and have recent experience as well as awareness of students' needs.

Hi there! I'm Irene and I offer ONLINE tutorials in Humanities subjects and English Lang/Lit for secondary students in Hong Kong. My lessons are all online via Skype or Zoom. As my tutorials often have a writing/essay focus, I use a Google Doc to share and collaborate with students in real time. We also use PDFs or real textbooks assigned to the student in their school classes to make sure we cover all the appropriate knowledge. I have been a private tutor for over 10 years, with a BA (Honours) in History and Politics at a London university. I also studied at an international school in Hong Kong for the IGCSE and IB Diploma, and teach students how to prepare for these exams! (If you're interested, my IB Diploma HLs were History, Psychology and English Language and Literature, and my Theory of Knowledge essay was world-recognised!) For History tutorials, I can cover most areas, particularly in modern history: US History includes Cold War, Vietnam War, Civil Rights Movement; modern Chinese history; modern Russian history; World War I and World War II; as well as Hong Kong colonial history.
